Company History
The Linenmill shop occupies part of a weaving factory, built in the late 1960's. At one time, four hundred looms wove cotton fabrics for the home furnishings market, followed later by fabrics for use as uniforms for the security forces.
As times changed and markets evolved, the company changed hands in the early 1980's and became a supplier of fabrics for duvets and pillows. The by then well established local expertise in fabric manufacturing lent its hand to finished bed linen cutting and sewing. Fabrics woven on site were finished into channel cases for duvets.
On site feather processing began, allowing the company to produce its first filled pillows, which were marketed to supermarket chains and department stores. At the beginning of the 1990's, a management buyout took the company into local ownership and the product range rapidly changed direction. The mid 1990's saw the removal of the last of the looms and the company became a dedicated manufacturer of finished duvets, pillows and cushions. Synthetics had by now joined the naturals, to provide a full range of products to customers. Bed linen was complemented by mattress protector production.
The Linenmill shop was born of the desire to have a retail unit, through which the manufacturing arm of the company could retail both its own production, but also complementary out sourced goods.
